AMI Livestock

Connecting livestock value chains from production communities to buyers.

Sector Ambition

Livestock is central to Somalia's economy, culture and rural livelihoods. AMI Livestock seeks to contribute to a stronger sector by connecting pastoralists, traders, service providers and buyers through more organised commercial arrangements and responsible handling practices.

Sourcing and Market Preparation

The division focuses on the sourcing and commercial coordination of suitable animals, including cattle, camels, goats and sheep, according to customer requirements and applicable rules. Selection considers health status, body condition, age, weight, breed characteristics and intended market. Clear specifications help reduce disputes and allow suppliers to prepare animals more effectively.

Animal Health, Welfare and Traceability

Animal welfare and health are essential to product quality, market confidence and responsible business. AMI Livestock promotes humane handling, access to water and rest during movement, appropriate stocking densities, veterinary oversight where required and records that support identification and traceability. Any quarantine, inspection or certification requirements are to be managed in coordination with qualified authorities and service providers.

AMI GROUP

Logistics, Trade and Value Addition

Livestock logistics require careful planning around routes, timing, holding arrangements, documentation and buyer schedules. The division works toward dependable movement and market coordination while reducing avoidable stress and loss. Longer-term opportunities may include stronger linkages to meat processing, hides and skins, dairy, feed and other livestock-related value chains where the technical and commercial case is sound.

AMI GROUP

Partnership with Pastoral Communities

AMI Livestock aims to build supplier relationships based on fair communication, agreed specifications and repeat business. By sharing market information and encouraging better preparation, the division seeks to help pastoral and trading communities participate more confidently in domestic and regional markets.
